Preventing Flood Damage
LSU Ag Center

The LSU Ag Center offers several helpful resources describing different floodproofing methods including both “wet” floodproofing (measures that minimize floodwater damages to structures such as raising utilities and equipment or using waterproof paint and materials) and “dry” floodproofing (measures that prevent water from entering a structure such as sealants or shields). Also included are several videos such as “Rising Above the Flood” and “Are you Ready for Rain? Floodproofing Tips and Techniques” which detail different methods of floodproofing, considerations for choosing a method, and funding sources.
