2029 Coastal Master Plan
Development of the 2029 Coastal Master Plan (MP29) is underway! This plan will build upon previous master plan efforts and strive to ensure that the collective effects of project investments reduce storm surge-based flood risk to communities, provide habitat for commercial and recreational activities, and reinforce infrastructure critical to our working coast.

WHAT’S NEW?
The New Project Development resources website has been updated with a summary of the first public solicitation period (PS#1) where you can review PS#1 submissions in interactive map and table formats, learn more about the screening process and outcomes, and sign up to receive future updates about MP29 Candidate Projects.
WHAT’S NEXT?
The second public solicitation (PS#2) period for MP29 new project ideas and coastal challenges is expected to open this fall, when the Future Without Action (FWOA) model results are available.
A few FWOA model runs had glitches that took time to resolve, which pushed the timeline from the previously planned “late summer.” Those issues have been resolved, and the Master Plan Team is finalizing the results and developing a user-friendly website to share FWOA information. The site will explain the latest modeling of what Louisiana’s coast could look like over the next 50 years if no further action is taken to reduce land loss.
Once FWOA results are available, PS#2 will open, meaning that we will begin accepting new project ideas and coastal challenges again. At that time, we’ll also begin outreach efforts to highlight the new FWOA site and how it can inspire new project ideas for the 2029 plan.
