2029 Coastal Master Plan
Development of the 2029 Coastal Master Plan (MP29) is underway! This plan will build upon previous master plan efforts and strive to ensure that the collective effects of project investments reduce storm surge-based flood risk to communities, provide habitat for commercial and recreational activities, and reinforce infrastructure critical to our working coast.

WHAT’S NEW?
The New Project Development resources website has been updated with a summary of the first public solicitation period (PS#1), where you can review PS#1 submissions in the interactive New Project Development (NPD) Map Viewer, learn more about the screening process and outcomes, and sign up to receive future updates about MP29 Candidate Projects.

WHAT’S NEXT?
FWOA Update:
One of our priorities for the MP29 new project development process is to make information easily accessible and useful to people as they develop project ideas that can perform well in our screening and evaluation framework, which relies on comparing the results of candidate projects to a future without any additional action (FWOA).
For MP29, we’ve accelerated the timeline to provide something that wasn’t possible in previous master plan cycles: the latest modeling of how Louisiana’s coast could change over the next 50 years if no additional action is taken to reduce land loss. Our goal is to make these results available in time to help inform new project ideas.
As of October 2026, we’re fine-tuning the model based on detailed reviews of the simulation results. A few more improvements are needed before the results are ready to support our planning efforts, but we’re optimistic that we can finalize them and share them through a user-friendly website by the end of this year.
Once the results are available, we can extend the PS#2 deadline if needed to give those who want to use the modeling results sufficient time to incorporate them into their project development efforts.
