2029 Coastal Master Plan

Development of the 2029 Coastal Master Plan is underway! This plan will build upon previous master plan efforts and strive to ensure that the collective effects of project investments reduce storm surge-based flood risk to communities, provide habitat for commercial and recreational activities, and reinforce infrastructure critical to our working coast.

WHAT’S NEW?

The first public solicitation for new project ideas closed October 26, 2025. CPRA is now in the process of screening and evaluating submitted project ideas for potential inclusion in Louisiana’s 2029 Coastal Master Plan (MP29). The schedule for the Second New Project Development Public Solicitation Period has changed and will now occur in the summer of 2026, instead of early 2026. This change will allow for CPRA to share the most up-to-date modeling of what our coast’s 50-year future could be like if we take no further action to reduce land loss. We hope that providing these updated modeling results at the start of the second public solicitation period will help participants develop additional project ideas for the 2029 plan.

New Project Development Workshops

Similar to the first public solicitation, CPRA will host public workshops across the coast to introduce Louisiana’s 2029 Coastal Master Plan new project development and submittal process and to discuss the updated landscape modeling results. Once scheduled, the workshop details will be shared here, in the CPRA news blasts, and via social media.

First Public Solicitation for New Project Development Recap

Over the summer of 2025, CPRA hosted four public workshops–in Abbeville (7/23), Cut Off (7/29), Violet (7/31), and Raceland (8/4)–to introduce Louisiana’s 2029 Coastal Master Plan new project development and submittal process. The goal was to support residents and other community members in developing and submitting strong project ideas.

At each event, participants learned about the state’s coastal challenges, potential solutions, and how CPRA’s planning tools can guide the creation of new project ideas. Following the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to collaborate directly with CPRA experts and fellow residents to brainstorm and refine their project ideas during the hands-on workshop.
