Geocache Trail (Click here to download KML file):

Geocaching is a real-world outdoor treasure hunt! Players use GPS enabled technology (smart phone or GPS) to locate hidden containers called geocaches! The Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA), through the Atchafalaya Basin Program, renewed the geocaches containers and locations to provide a fun-filled activity for all to enjoy. Twenty-two locations were identified in and around the Atchafalaya Basin that are integral to the history, culture, and importance of the area. Each geocache is accessible by road, has an informational description of the area and its importance to the Atchafalaya Basin, and a trinket surprise! Trinkets are for fun and trade. Remember to trade the item for an item of equal value for the next geocache finder! Photos of your exploration and finds are welcomed at CPRA’s email: coastal@la.gov titled “Atchafalaya Basin Program-geocache”.

Please note, the conditions of these campsites are subject to natural influences of the Atchafalaya River and associated wildlife.
