New Orleans Land Bridge Shoreline Stabilization and Marsh Creation Project

The PO-0169 New Orleans Land Bridge Shoreline Stabilization and Marsh Creation Project (Project) is located in the Pontchartrain Basin in Orleans Parish, flanking U.S. Highway 90 along the east shore of Lake Pontchartrain and areas surrounding Lake St. Catherine.

The Project will create and nourish 253 acres of brackish marsh and will stabilize roughly three (3) miles of shoreline along the U.S. Highway 90 (Chef Menteur Hwy) corridor.  The Project will reduce interior marsh loss; help maintain the integrity of the East Orleans Land Bridge and Lakes Pontchartrain and Borgne; and protect fish and wildlife resources dependent on these marsh habitats, particularly at-risk species and species of conservation concern.

The Project is funded through the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act Program (CWPPRA), and is currently in construction.
