Coast authority focuses on paying $3 billion New Orleans area levee debt

July 20, 2017, Mark Schleifstein — The state Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority focused on its so-far unsuccessful efforts to get the federal government to dismiss a $3 billion bill for the state’s share of building the New Orleans area hurricane levee system in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, during its monthly board meeting Wednesday (July 19).
