In 2019, the Center will be available for public days.  Information on public access will be distributed soon.  Below you will find more information regarding tours of the Center.

A visit to the LSU Center for River Studies offers a unique experience that allows visitors to investigate our educational exhibit consisting of seven different coastal themes, in addition to exploring the model through interactive displays.

This free tour lasts an hour.  The first thirty minutes takes visitors through an exhibit area that showcases how the Mississippi River delta was formed, why Louisiana is losing land, and what CPRA is doing to stem the loss.  Afterwards, visitors view the river model from a second floor catwalk and view an interactive presentation that uses high-tech projectors to display satellite images onto the model.  One of the largest physical models of its kind in the world, this is quite an experience to witness.

Tours are by appointment only Tuesday-Friday between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm and last approximately 50 minutes – 1 hour.

Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to your tour and keeping other scheduled groups in mind we request your group plan to depart 1 hour after your scheduled arrival.

The river model is a working hydraulics lab, therefore experiments on the model run independently of scheduled tours.

*Due to ongoing construction limiting the availability of parking, only groups arriving by bus for pick up and drop off can be accommodated for tours*

We strongly encourage requests to be placed at least one month in advance
