Jefferson Parish receives $2.1 million from FEMA for home elevations

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is providing an additional $2.1 million to pay for home elevations in Jefferson Parish. A FEMA press release says the money will provide a 75 percent federal share for 16 home elevation projects that will cost a total of $2.7 million. Individual homeowners or the state will cover the remaining costs, and homeowners will be required to maintain flood insurance.
