Federal government sued for $1.9 million for clay used in Katrina levee repairs

The St. Bernard Parish government and the Lake Borgne Basin Levee District filed suit against the federal government on Wednesday (May 20) to force it to pay $1.9 million owed private landowners for clay used in rebuilding levees destroyed in Hurricane Katrina, including $471,000 in fees owed the landowners’ attorneys.
